Before a sold out audience at the CNE bandshell, Andy Kim rocked the crowd with a fast paced 9 song set. The crowd actually started arriving three hours early in anticipation of another great Andy Kim concert. As well as his standard hits, Andy included his newer music, 'Happen Again' which was well received. Listed below are the songs in the order in which they were played.
'Baby, I Love You' 'So Good Together' 'Rainbow Ride' Sugar Sugar' 'Happen Again' 'How'd We Ever Get This Way' 'It's Your Life' 'Be My Baby' 'Rock Me Gently'
The locals and those who travelled a great distance to see their favourite artist were not disappointed. Many songs including the ever popular 'Sugar Sugar' had them dancing in the aisles. Andy Kim set the stage perfectly for his Rockin' counterpart, Tommy James. The adoration the fans have for Andy was evident by the huge line up that awaited him at his meet and greet. Thanks for playing the CNE Andy. Kudos go out to Tommy James and the Shondells for a terrific high energy performance that included all his greatest hits. The evening was a convergence of great atmosphere, great weather and great music.
Thanks Di It sounds absolutely fantastic. I am so glad the weather held for you. I googled the CNN Bandshell and it looks such a cool venue. I would so love to see Andy in concert and I am so envious of you and the other fans who have seen him. I am afraid I dont know much about Tommy James except for Mony Mony which was a big hit here. I think he had another hit but cant remember off the top of my head what it was. My mission is now to somehow get to see Andy. Will have to save up for a sea cruise to Canada lol. So glad you had a good time. Love Jill xx
HI DI Thanks DI for the wonderful concert review . IAM so envious of you sound like you had a great time. I would love to see andy one more time in concert you are so lucky to live in canada. glad you had a good time andys fan forever love jody
Thanks so much for this review, Di. I love your style of writing, clear and to the point, so unlike my expansive rambling. You get those facts right in there for interesting, easy reading.
I was holding my breath that you'd have good weather. Glad it turned out so well. What a great line-up of Andy's songs. I like the way he sandwiched HAPPEN AGAIN right in the middle of the oldies. Of course, RMG HAS to round it all up. Sounds like a great show.
Thank you for pointing me toward T.J.'s book, "Me, the Mob and the Music". I'm almost finished with it. I think it's a must read for all Andy fans and anyone else interested in the music business of the '60s. When I heard the two discussing the book on the 1010 interview, it made me realize how different but alike these two artists are. They're both so talented and definitely seem to admire each other's work but took such different different paths to get to the same place. Does that make sense? Anyway, a very informative book.
Thanks again, Di. Great review.
"Music is the mind-altering drug of all time"...Andy
Great Concert! My wife and I arrived 1 hour early so we could get a seat. Andy got many people up close and dancing right from the start. Every one was singing along to the great songs. Loved the band - especially the drummer!
