Hello my fan forum friends , Last night was a hard night ...Watched the TV in shock as they showed pictures of Joplin ,Mo ...Just 20 some miles West of me and a place I go to often ...I read this morning that 89 people died last night in the tornado and from the pictures I saw on TV and FB the South side of Joplin is pretty much gone ..Please be praying for all the familys that lost their homes and especialy for the ones that lost family and friends ...As far as I know there was not any one I know lost ..We had a terrible storm here but everything is alright ....Thanks
I'm so sorry you've all had to deal with this kind of stuff. I've lived through two tornadoes and they're the scariest things I've ever experienced. It looks like this one broke all the rules. The sizes of some of the buildings that were destroyed tell us that there wasn't any way to escape it except to burrow underground.
I'm glad you and your family are safe. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Stay safe. I know there's still danger in the forecast.

Thanks Fran ... I think it was 2008 that there was a tornado that came through here on my road . I was not here I was in Branson but a teen age girl just two houses south of me died ...Tornados are bad but we will go on and I am sure the bussiness and homes will be rebuilt ..But it is sad that 89 people lost their lives and there are still searching today ...
Fran we are almost a week into this and yes there are so many horrible stories but there are so many stories of HEROS as well ..And there are people from all over the state coming to help and the first responders were from everywere too and got there very quickly ..That is so encouraging and I am thankful for all of them ..
We've been watching it all on TV. At least one of the Houston stations has people on the ground there.
I've heard over and over in interviews with people in Joplin, that it's amazing how little they care about what's blown away, when they realize how lucky they are to still be here. I hope all help with reconstruction comes quickly and is well handled.

First of all I want to tell you that I do not want to post over Jill's Post it is under NEW TOPIC ..So please go in and read her fun post . But I was wanting to give an update on the Tornado : Yes it is still sad ..There is so much distruction and loss ..The last I heard the death toll was 155 ..But it is exciting to hear all of the wonderful stories of love ..There are so many stories that I can't tell them all here but I will give a few ..Like the little 6 year old boy that ask his mom if the kids had toys to play with and she said no they lost everything ...He got a group of kids to gather toys and they had a truck load full that they took to the kids of Joplin that had no toys at all .."He said we have to go see if they are all right "...Then there was a little 3 year old that her mom ask her if she would want to pick out a doll that she had to give to two little girls that had lost everything in the tornado ? She picked out two and she looked at the doll and said "You are going away but you are going to make a little girl so happy " . People are so thankful for such little things .There is a young man in his 20's I would say that lost his left foot and was in the hospital until just the other day .He said he would love to have a cup of Starbucks coffee ..The owner of a Starbucks made sure he will have a cup of coffee every morning ...As Fran said people are so thankfull for what they have ..They know it is not what they lost that is important it is what they have ..Each other ..There were people saying just take someone out to eat ..One of the new men on the channel I watch in the morning ,he and his wife lost everything but each other and their dogs ..But he was having a hard time with it and he said someone took them out to eat and for those few minutes that they were there eating things seemed normal again ..Someone gave him a shirt and he was elated ..There are such big hearts being shown in this time ..People came and are still coming from all over the US to help ..They are helping and showing love to people they have never met..Businesses are giving a portion of there daily profit to the Tornado Restoration ..Jolpin is strong and I think it will be even stronger when this is all said and done ...There are temporary class rooms getting ready for the school year that will start in Aug ... I am not sure but they lost I know at least 4 schools in Joplin ..About 4 or 5 days after the tornado they got a temporary Hospital set up ..That was one of the biggest thing that is gone is the St John's Hospital .Things are coming together ..Joplin will rebuild and I think it will be even stronger ..Hope is what I want to say here ...People with hearts bigger than you can ever believe are giving of time and money and loveing people they don't even know ...That is what we are here for is to love and help each other ..Jolpin is rising out of the ashes .....
Hi Neia I am so glad things are starting to come together there. Your stories of people helping each other shows me that there is some good in this world where all we seem to hear about are wars murders, bombings etc. I know the tornado was a truely awful thing to happen but it has shown that when things are really tough people do pull together and help. Its just a shame that things like this have to happen to make people realise what they have. The people of Joplin will make it rise from the ashes. I admire them so much Love Jill xx
